FAQ
Windshield Repair vs. Replacement
Yes, and in Las Vegas it happens faster than you’d expect. Heat, road vibration, and sudden temperature changes all cause chips to spread into full cracks. If you’ve got a chip, getting it looked at sooner saves money and avoids a more complicated fix later.
A good starting point is the quarter test. If the chip is smaller than a quarter, it can often be repaired. If the crack is longer, in your direct line of sight, or spreading, replacement is usually the right call. When you contact us, we’ll assess the damage and give you a straight answer — no upsell.
Generally about an hour, but it depends on the adhesive used and conditions. We’ll give you a specific timeframe when we complete the job so you know exactly when it’s safe to go.
A chip repair typically takes 30 to 45 minutes. Replacement takes longer — usually 60 to 90 minutes — plus cure time before you can drive. We’ll walk you through what to expect when we schedule your appointment.
For the first 24 hours: avoid car washes, don’t slam doors (the pressure can affect the seal), and leave the retention tape in place if we applied any. We’ll go over all of this with you when the job is done.
A chip is a small impact point where a rock or debris hit the glass. A crack is a line that extends outward from that point — or from nowhere if the glass was stressed by heat or pressure. Chips can often be repaired. Cracks usually require replacement, depending on their size and location.
